my compressor went out after 3 months of it being delivered and I have 5 children so had to throw away all my food including thanksgiving food yet it was delivered brand new and been eating out 2 ice chests still waiting on part to be delivered and someone available to fix!

I bought this two weeks ago to replace a 35-year-old Whirlpool fridge that died. My choices were limited by size and space, and Whirlpool has always been a reliable choice.
It's a nice-looking appliance, though the fingerprints are already driving me crazy as I search for the perfect stainless steel cleaner. The other cons:
- it's noisier than my old refrigerator. It's not particularly loud, but I am ever-aware of the "hum"
- the freezer doors do not hold many items. Things that I once stored on my door now fall to the floor because there's too much open space. Basically the only there now there are frozen vegetables which means there is less space in the rest of the freezer for other items.
- there's a similar space at the back of the shelf, and I would have preferred a wire shelf without an edge lip which also takes up space.
- I bought the optional ice maker which works well, but the tray is so ridiculously cheap.
- the light in the refrigerator takes up way too much room!
The pros:
- it's good looking, and there's enough nickel content that it still holds magnets (not important to some, but I like a few)
- the door shelves are so simple to adjust, and I've switched them several times until Igot them to my liking.
- the glass shelves are also easy to adjust.
- the sliding bin is great!
- I love that I can see what is in the humidity-controlled bins without having to open them.
After two weeks, all in all, I'm satisfied with my purchase, but had I not been limited by space, I would have chosen differently.

Our last Refrigerator lasted 25+ years. I'm sure this new one will out last the old one. It's so bright inside, lots of useful space (we still haven't filled it up.) The finish (Stainless Steel) is easy to clean with clothes. And it's quiet.

This refrigerator was right in time, as my old unit was starting to go out. I had my other unit since the 90's, so it was time for an upgrade. I did extensive research and shopping for something that would meet my standards for what I desired. I know Whirlpool is a trusted name and has been around for years. I am pleased with my purchase. The only thing I can think of unsatisfactory, is that it states the stainless steel is supposed to be fingerprint resistant but they still show up. Just cosmetic, the unit itself has been great so far!!!!

We bought this after our 7 year old Kenmore Elite bottom freezer suddenly stopped working. The appliance repair man said that the Kenmore Elites were now being built by LG and were no good anymore. We spent about 5 days researching refrigerators and decided that this was the best one for our purposes. When we got it installed, it took about a week for the temperature in the freezer and down below to stabilize. Its seems to be OK now but we regretted not getting a bottom freezer.

I really like having a bigger refrigerator. The inside-the-door storage holds so much more and so does the freezer. In spite of its being deeper, I can still see where everything is. A few negatives: The meat/cheese storage drawer is skimpy so I'm using the gallon jug holder to hold cheese, too. The vegetable bins are bigger than they need to be (at least for me). The shelves inside the f freezer door have too wide a gap at the bottom. Why is that?

We bought this because it was the perfect size for our space which is surrounded by cabinets and a wall. Replaced a side by side. Just wish we had gotten one with a bottome freezer, as you do have to bend down to see just what is in there.

I had a Whirlpool 3 years ago, and this one is just as good as that one. I had an Amana in between and didn't like it as much. I like the size of this one since we only have one fridge. I like the see-through shelves and the adjustable shelves in the main compartment and the door.

I do not recommend this model for two reasons:
1. Poor temperature controls. Instead of separate temperature controls for the refrigerator and freezer sections, you get one "temperature balance" control - turn it one way or the other and more or less cooling is directed to each section. Very hard to get BOTH sections at optimal temperatures together.
2. Poor self design, especially on the freezer inside door. Shelves have huge gaps on the bottom. Any slender item placed in them (a package of frozen peas or corn, for example) slips right through and falls to the fall. Really stupid design.

My 17 year old Kenmore (which was a Whirlpool build) was fading fast so we had to find something fairly quickly to take its place. My first two choices of Whirlpool refrigerators were not available for 4 - 8 weeks so this was my 3rd choice. I might add that our kitchen space for a refrigerator is very limited and the dimensions were a critical factor in my selection. We wanted just the basic stainless fridge with as much usable space as possible.
This was built in Mexico in August, 2017. I purchased it in October, 2018 new from Home Depot. Hmmmm....
Pros: Lighting (excellent), space, the delivery, the consistent cold temperature, being able to slide the deli drawer from side to side.
Cons: Freezer door shelves (some things fall through the bottom, you have to be selective as to what you put there), noise (not excessive, but a tad louder than the old fridge).
I was a little disappointed that the factory protective film put on the stainless steel doors to minimize scratches during shipping left about an inch gap on the top and bottom of each door. There were no scratches, but I could tell a difference in the stainless gloss in those areas until I gave it a thorough cleaning.
I switched door handle sides myself, which went ok, and during the switch I noted that the exact hinges and brackets were being used that were on my 17 year old
fridge.
Overall, I like it. It's good and cold. I'm hoping to get good service out of it.

Purchased the WRT511SZDM refrigerator 3 yrs ago. Up to this point, it worked reasonably well. Unfortunately, the compressor went out this month - with repair costs equivalent to about 3/4 the cost of a new equivalent refrigerator. Not too happy with the compressor only lasting 3 yrs and the warranty is only 1 year. So a new refrigerator needs to be purchased.
Other comments on frig: We didn't have any issues with cooling - no ice in freezer and compartments were kept at acceptable temps (have read reviews with others having issues with this). We agree that the freezer door shelves were very poorly designed - with too large of a gap between the end of the shelf and the bar. Small items will fall through. Not sure how this made it through the design validation process.
Refrigerator door storage worked well. Main refrigerator storage was good. You have to bend down to look at what's on the top shelf but that's probably a common issue with top freezer refrigerators - especially since this one has a large size freezer compartment.
Light in freezer is nice. Light in refrigerator is fine, though if larger items are on top shelf, the light isn't as effective. Like the idea I've seen in some refrigerators with LED lights going vertically along the front edge of the side walls. This seems like a good idea to have more even lighting on the whole compartment.
The refrigerator was not as quiet as I expected for a new refrigerator - though it was something we became used to - i.e. not that obnoxious.
Giving it a 2 since I really expected the compressor to last more than 3 years - not sure how much confidence Whirlpool has in its parts if the compressor is only guaranteed for 1 year. They used to have a longer warranty for the compressors.
If the compressor hadn't failed, the rating would probably be a 4.

have had about 2 months - froze some leafy greens once - weren't in a drawer. other than that, no real complaints, although things can get lost in the back since there are not many specific containment options. no frills inside. just got rid of a GE with all kinds of lighting that was nice but otherwise unit stunk. - so would be nice if had lights in a few other strategic places and maybe more customize able shelves. was not all that inexpensive, so cannot say that is a costly addition.

I bought it a month ago, thinking that I would like it. Wish I had chosen the freezer on the bottom so that the upper portion was more easily accessible. The plastic compartments on the door pop off easily and thus, the contents spill off to the floor. It's okay for a garage fridge. Would not want it in the house.

We bought our refrigerator about the middle of May. When the first one was delivered, it iced up and we found the doors had been changed improperly. The second one was delivered and it is also was having ice to collect around the door of the freezer. We purchased thermometers to check the correct temps. The temps are right but there is still ice around the freezer door.

I have this refrigerator almost a year and have repairmen 3 times already.
I had to invest now in a service contract, bec. it is still not running properly. The fridge is roomy, but unless I keep it at the highest setting the milk spoils.
Stay far away from this model. It has sensors in the freezer that need 'breathing' space, so you can't fill the freezer up!!!

We acquired this fridge for the break room at our company. As far as getting the job done at its most basic straightforward level, things look promising.This is as basic as you can get with a freezer-top fridge. What I can say that stands out from the rest of its ho-hum disposition is the storage volume relative to the size. It is QUITE spacious inside, more than you might expect. That was like, literally the only thing that got my attention. Outside of ALL the quintessence of fridge-ness, it was when I opened the door, looked inside, and saw all the SPACE, THAT is what made me go "... huh!" and bumped its score up from 3 to 3.5 stars.
I mean what else am I gonna ask for? If we wanted more we would've paid more, right?
I'll also give you this: Its design principles are VERY refined. This understated presence in your kitchen strives to be as unobtrusive as possible. It IS big, but doesn't *seem* like it until you open it, and I mean that in a good way. Build quality seems solid. Clean lines, gives you exactly what you expect to see, no surprises; it's almost comforting. This is what comes to mind when somebody hears the word "Fridge."

I rated three stars only because the design of the inside freezer door is a waste you can't place most items on the door due to the space between the rails and the shelf.
Everything falls through the space when you open the door. I also sent a email through Whirlpool's website to see if maybe I was missing something that would stop items from falling through and have not heard from them yet been about 5 day's now as of 1/23/2018.

Sometimes I pull the refrigerator off the place where it is standing and still the door did not open! Other then that I want a water filter in it too. That way this can be a good refrigerator.
